Riding Level 1

Suited to our "Classic" Training Programs

 

As a Level 1 Rider, you are happily performing circles of different sizes in walk and trot, and 20m circles in canter most of the time.

You or your horse might be returning to riding after a break or you need to perform exercises that stimulate the cardiovascular (fitness) system and the musculature (strength) system in a way that maximizes improvement without risking injury.

You might be training or competing in Preliminary EA and/or Level 3-5 HRCAV or Pony Club, with a focus on rhythm, relaxation, and contact.

The Foundation Training 
Classic - Lesson Plan 1
will help improve the rider’s knowledge of the basic arena shapes and figures.

 

Performing the prescribed exercises each week will help with the following:

  • Improve the fitness of both horse and rider
  • Enhance the horse’s responsiveness to the rider’s aids
  • Introduce and establish bend and flexion
  • Achieve more precise control of the horse's speed and steering
  • Improve strength and musculature for both horse and rider.
