The Foundation Challenge Training Program

The Foundation Training Challenge Lesson Plan
will help you improve your knowledge of more difficult arena shapes and figures, particularly by introducing lateral work to enhance your horse's suppleness.

Performing the prescribed exercises each week will help you improve:

  • The suppleness and strength of both you and your horse
  • Your knowledge of the first lateral exercises – shoulder fore, shoulder in, turn on the hindquarters, rein back, and counter canter
  • Your horse’s responsiveness to your lateral aids
  • Introducing and establishing consistent and elastic contact with your horse's mouth, impacting your horse's shape and way of going
  • More precise control of your horse's stride length, as well as shoulder and hindquarter position
  • Strength and musculature for your horse, particularly over the topline, along with some improvement in core strength
