About Val

GUIDE CREATOR HUMAN ACTIVIST

Hey there, I’m Val.

And I’m so glad you’re here.

It can feel very lonely being vegan in a world that is still largely stuck in its carnist ways.

Connecting with other vegans has become necessary for my emotional and spiritual health, and I created this space to serve as a guide and connector for folks who need a vegan sanctuary of kindred souls who view chickens and pigs the same way we view cats and dogs.

Not quite there yet? Veg-curious friends are very welcome here, too. The journey can seem intimidating without the right kind of support, and (along with the community I’m cultivating), I want to be a resource for anyone who is on the journey of living a kinder, more compassionate life.

I bring 10 years as a psychotherapist and coach, and 4 years as an ethical vegan into this work. I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to blend my passions to truly live my dharma in the world.

Fellow vegans,

here's what I know about you:

You're sad. You're anxious about the state of the world. You're sickened by how the vast majority of humans treat animals, the planet, even each other.

You're in a state of permanent eye-roll about your co-worker (and frankly, most people you encounter) who talks about how much she loves her cat, and chows down on pig at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I was that person. (You probably were too before going vegan, right?) And I'm embarrassed about how long it took me to get my head out of the sand. But now that I'm here, I will NOT be silent about the oppression and abuse ANY longer.

Once I finally grasped the level of suffering and environmental damage caused by animal exploitation, changing the way I interact with the world on a day-to-day basis became an imperative.

My aim is not to pressure or convert anyone with this platform, but rather, to connect with and be a resource for people who already share this value or are on their way there.

Does it really matter if

your therapist/coach/guide is vegan?

Not to all vegans, and that’s totally okay.

But similarly to how many people who identify as Christian might prefer to work with a Christian counselor who shares a similar worldview, some folks prefer to work with healers and guides who shares similar views about the exploitation of animals and the planet, since these are issues that speak to our deepest-held values and impact our lives and choices on a day-to-day basis.

The awesome folks over at vKind call it “powering up the VegEconomy”— basically, if we can vote with our dollars and support businesses and professionals who are committed to sustainable, cruelty-free practices, why wouldn’t we?

In their database, you can find vegan massage therapists, realtors, attorneys— basically, whatever you need!
